How many times have we thought rice is a blessing? We use it for holy purposes but we also can pressure up a quick pulao or khichdi when hunger pangs are drumming away! This is one grain that is about 98% percent digestible. In India we are familiar with Basmati, Patna or brown rice but it is also available as Italian Rice and Glutinous Rice which is popular in Chinese and Japanese cuisines.

Ingredients for Sambasadham Recipe

  • Cooked rice 3 cups

  • Curry leaves 6-8

  • Black peppercorns 5-6

  • Ghee 1 1/2 tablespoons

  • Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon

  • Cashewnuts 10-12

  • Salt to taste

Method

Step 1

Dry roast cumin seeds and black peppercorns in a small non stick pan.

Step 2

Cool and grind coarsely. Heat ghee in another non-stick pan. Add curry leaves, cashewnuts and sauté.

Step 3

Add 2 tsps of the ground masala and cooked rice and mix well. Add salt and mix well.

Step 4

Sprinkle a little water and mix well.

Step 5

Cook till the rice gets heated through.

Step 6

Serve hot with Chidambaram Gothsu.
