How many times have we thought rice is a blessing? We use it for holy purposes but we also can pressure up a quick pulao or khichdi when hunger pangs are drumming away! This is one grain that is about 98% percent digestible. In India we are familiar with Basmati, Patna or brown rice but it is also available as Italian Rice and Glutinous Rice which is popular in Chinese and Japanese cuisines.

Ingredients for Fried Rice Recipe

  • Basmati rice , cooked 3 cups

  • Oil 1 tablespoon

  • Garlic , chopped 1 tablespoon

  • Carrot , chopped 1 medium

  • French beans , finely chopped 2 tablespoons

  • Button mushrooms , sliced 1/2 cup

  • Spring onion bulbs , diagonally sliced 2-3

  • Green capsicum , finely chopped 1 tablespoon

  • Salt to taste

  • White pepper powder to taste

  • Soy sauce 2 teaspoons

  • Spring onion greens , diagonally sliced 3 tablespoons

  • Vinegar 1 teaspoon

  • Port wine to serve


Step 1

Heat oil in a deep non-stick pan add garlic and sauté for 30 seconds. Add carrot and sauté for 1 minute.

Step 2

Add French beans and sauté for 1 minute. Add button mushrooms and sauté for 1 minute. Add spring onion bulbs and sauté for 30 seconds.

Step 3

Add green capsicum and sauté for 30 seconds. Add salt and white pepper powder and mix well.

Step 4

Add rice and mix. Add soy sauce and mix. Add 2 tablespoons spring onion greens and mix. Add vinegar and toss well.

Step 5

Transfer into a serving bowl, garnish with spring onion greens and serve hot with port wine.
