Ingredients list for Ghol Curry

  • 400 grams Ghol fish fillets
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons Oil
  • 1 large Onion , sliced
  • 3 tablespoons Coriander seeds
  • 2-3 Bay leaves
  • 8-10 Cloves
  • 1/2 cup Dried coconut , sliced
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 2 medium Tomatoes , chopped
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Red chilli powder
  • to garnish Ginger strips

Method

  1. Heat 1½ tbsps oil in a non-stick pan. Slice ½ onion and add to the pan and saute till translucent. Add coriander seeds and bay leaves, mix and sauté well. Add cloves, mix and sauté till fragrant. Add coconut, mix and sauté for 2-3 minutes.
  2. Transfer into a blender jar, cool slightly and blend to a fine paste.
  3. Chop remaining onion roughly. Heat remaining oil in another non-stick pan, add chopped onion and sauté well.
  4. Add turmeric powder and mix well. Add tomatoes and mix well. Add red chilli powder and mix well.
  5. Add the prepared paste and mix well. Add 1 cup water and mix well.
  6. Cut fish fillets into small pieces, add to the pan and mix well. Cover and cook till fish is cooked completely.
  7. Transfer into a serving bowl. Garnish with ginger strips and serve hot.
