By Sanjeev Kapoor 09 Nov 2017 in Recipes Course New Update Main Ingredients kolam rice, Moong dal Cuisine Indian Course Rice Prep Time 41-50 minutes Cook time 41-50 minutes Serve 4 Taste Spicy Level of Cooking Easy Others Veg Ingredients list for Satvik Khichdi 1/2 cup kolam rice soaked for 30-45 minutes and drained 1/2 cup Moong dal soaked for 30-45 minutes and drained 1 medium Green capsicum chopped 1 medium Tomato chopped 1/4 cup Cauliflower small 2 medium Potatoes peeled and cut into small cubes 3 tablespoons Desi ghee 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds to taste Salt 1/2 teaspoon Red chilli powder 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon Garam masala powder Method Heat ghee in a non-stick pan, add cumin seeds and sauté till they change colour. Add capsicum, mix and sauté for two to three minutes. Add tomato, mix and cook till soft. Add cauliflower and potatoes, mix and cook for five to ten minutes. Add salt, chilli powder, turmeric powder and garam masala powder, mix well and cook for one minute. Add rice and green gram and mix well. Add four cups water, stir to mix and bring to a boil on high heat. Lower heat, cover and cook till the moisture dries out.
