Be a kid or a teenage or an adult or an oldie, chicken lovers trend all over the world at all times! One meat that is a favourite of all beyond belief! When cooked, it can be presented in many guises. Sauté it, fry it, toss it, bake it, steam it – eat it the way you want to. Whatever its form may be upon being cooked, its flavour may change but its flesh remains high in protein, low in fat and can be digested easily.

Ingredients for Balti Pear Chicken Recipe

  • Chicken 800 grams

  • Pears cubed 1 large

  • Pear pureed 1 large

  • Yogurt 1 cup

  • Salt to taste

  • Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon

  • Garam masala powder 1 teaspoon

  • Turmeric powder 3/4 teaspoon

  • Oil 2 tablespoons

  • Black peppercorns 4-5

  • Bay leaves 2

  • Cinnamon 1 inch stick

  • Whole dry red chillies 2

  • Onions chopped 3 medium

  • Garlic paste 1 teaspoon

  • Tomatoes pureed 2 medium

Method

Step 1

Marinate boneless chicken for about an hour preferably in a refrigerator in a mixture of yogurt, salt, half teaspoon red chilli powder, half teaspoon garam masala powder and pear puree. Add one fourth teaspoon of turmeric powder. Chop a few sprigs of coriander

Step 2

Grill the marinated chicken pieces on a bar-be-que, turning sides a few times, till evenly cooked all around. Once done cut into medium sized pieces.

Step 3

Heat oil in a balti (or a pan), add black peppercorns, green cardamoms, bay leaves, cinnamon, whole red chillies and sauté. Add chopped onions and sauté till onions turn golden. Add garlic paste and continue to sauté. Add tomato puree and mix. Add half teaspoon turmeric powder, half teaspoon red chilli powder and sauté for a few minutes.

Step 4

Add the remaining marinade and mix well. Add one cup of water and let it cook for three to four minutes. Add chopped pear and mix.

Step 5

Remove the bay leaf and adjust salt. Break some coriander leaves with hand and add to the gravy. Add the grilled chicken pieces and cook on low heat for three to four minutes.

Step 6

Add half teaspoon of garam masala and mix well.

Step 7

Serve hot.
