And did you always think that eating a potato will make you fat?
Well, don’t – it is a surprising source of vitamin C and provides useful amounts of starch, thiamine and niacin and around a hundred grams will provide about eighty calories.

Ingredients for Potato Peas Masala Recipe

  • Potatoes boiled, peeled and cut into large pieces 2 large

  • Green Peas boiled 1 cup

  • Oil 1 tablespoon

  • Cumin seeds 1/2 teaspoons

  • Mustard seeds 1/2 teaspoon

  • Ginger grated 1 teaspoon

  • Garlic grated 1 teaspoon

  • Curry leaves 6-8

  • Onion grated 1 medium

  • Tomato finely chopped 1 medium

  • Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon

  • Coriander powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon

  • Asafoetida a pinch

  • Salt to taste

  • Yogurt 3 tablespoons

  • Fresh coriander leaves chopped 1 tablespoon


Step 1

Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Add cumin seeds and mustard seeds and let them splutter.

Step 2

Add ginger, garlic, curry leaves and onion. Mix well and saute for a minute.

Step 3

Add tomato. Mix well and cook till the oil separates. Add red chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, asafoetida, salt and yogurt. Mix well and cook for two to three minutes.

Step 4

Add potatoes, green peas and half cup of water. Stir to mix and bring it to a boil. Cover and simmer till gravy is thick, stirring occasionally.

Step 5

Serve hot garnished with coriander leaves.
