Ingredients 

  • 7-8 medium tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons pure ghee
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • A pinch asafoetida
  • 1 green chilli broken
  • 10 curry leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons fresh coriander leaves chopped
  • ½ teaspoon garam masala powder

Method

  1. Heat the gheein a non stick pan.Add the asafoetida, cumin seeds, curry leaves, turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin powder and red chilli powder and sauté for a minute on medium heat.
  2. Add the tomatoes and sauté for about two minutes. Add the salt, sugar, green chillies and half a cup of water and mix well.Reduce heat to low once the mixture comes to a boil and cook for ten to fifteen minutes.
  3. Add coriander leaves and garam masala powder and mix well.
  4. Serve hot.
