How many times have we thought rice is a blessing? We use it for holy purposes but we also can pressure up a quick pulao or khichdi when hunger pangs are drumming away! This is one grain that is about 98% percent digestible. In India we are familiar with Basmati, Patna or brown rice but it is also available as Italian Rice and Glutinous Rice which is popular in Chinese and Japanese cuisines.

Ingredients for Bhaat With Sev Recipe

  • Cooked rice 3 cups

  • Sev 1/4 cup

  • Onion 1 medium

  • Oil 2 tablespoons

  • Cloves 4-5

  • Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon

  • Mustard seeds 1/2 teaspoon

  • Asafoetida a pinch

  • Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon

  • Curry leaves 15-20

  • Carrot cut into small cubes 1/2

  • French beans cut into small pieces 5-6

  • Green peas 1/4 cup

  • Salt to taste

  • Red chilli powder 1/4 teaspoon

  • Boondi 1/4 cup

  • Lemon 1

Method

Step 1

Chop onion finely. Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add cloves, cumin seeds, mustard seeds, asafoetida and onion and sauté for ½ minute.

Step 2

Add turmeric powder, curry leaves and sauté for 2-3 minutes.

Step 3

Add carrot, French beans and green peas and stir.

Step 4

Add rice, salt, red chilli powder and mix well.

Step 5

Add boondi and juice of a lemon and mix well.

Step 6

Transfer into a serving dish.

Step 7

Sprinkle sev on top and serve hot with chilled yogurt or any raita.
