Capsicum Thokku Thokku is a staple side dish in most South Indian homes and can be made with different vegetables, pulses and lentils too. By Sanjeev Kapoor 19 Apr 2024 in Recipes Main Course Vegetarian New Update Capsicum Thokku Main ingredients Green capsicums, Cumin seeds, Mustard seeds, Fennel seeds, Ginger, Garlic, Onions, Tomatoes, Tamarind Cuisine Tamilnadu Course Main course vegetarian Prep time 10-15 minutes Cook time 101-5 minutes Serve 4 Taste Savoury Level of cooking Easy Others Veg Ingredients 3 medium green capsicums 2-3 tablespoons oil 1 teaspoon cumin seeds 1 teaspoon mustard seeds 2 teaspoons fennel seeds 1 inch ginger, chopped 10-12 garlic cloves, sliced 2-3 green chillies, slit 2 medium onions, sliced 2 medium tomatoes, sliced 1 teaspoon red chilli powder 1 teaspoon cumin powder 1½ teaspoons coriander powder ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder Salt to taste 1 sprig of curry leaves 2 tablespoons tamarind water 2 tablespoons chopped fresh coriander Chapatti for serving Method Deseed and slice the capsicums. Heat oil in a kadai, add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, fennel seeds, ginger and garlic, mix well and sauté for 30 seconds. Add green chillies and onions, mix well and sauté for 2-3 minutes. Add tomatoes, mix and sauté for 2-3 minutes. Add capsicums and mix well. Add red chilli powder, cumin powder, coriander powder and turmeric powder and mix well. Add salt and mix. Add curry leaves and mix. Add ½ cup water, mix well and cook on medium heat for 4-5 minutes. Add tamarind water and coriander leaves and mix well.
