Be a kid or a teenage or an adult or an oldie, chicken lovers trend all over the world at all times! One meat that is a favourite of all beyond belief! When cooked, it can be presented in many guises. Sauté it, fry it, toss it, bake it, steam it – eat it the way you want to. Whatever its form may be upon being cooked, its flavour may change but its flesh remains high in protein, low in fat and can be digested easily.

Ingredients for Coorg Style Dry Chicken Recipe

  • Chicken cut into 8 pieces on the bone 750 grams

  • Salt to taste

  • Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon

  • Green cardamoms 3

  • Cinnamon 3 one-inch sticks

  • Cloves 6-7

  • Black peppercorns 1 tablespoon

  • Mustard seeds 1 teaspoon

  • Dried red chillies 5-6

  • Oil 3 tablespoons

  • Onions chopped 1 cup

  • Tomatoes chopped 1/2 cup

  • Kodumpulli water 6 teaspoons

Method

Step 1

Put chicken pieces in a bowl, add salt and turmeric powder and mix.

Step 2

Dry roast green cardamoms, cinnamon, cloves, black peppercorns, mustard seeds and dried red chillies in a small non-stick pan till fragrant. Let them cool down.

Step 3

Heat oil in another non-stick pan, add onions and sauté till golden.

Step 4

Transfer the roasted spices into a mixer jar grind them to a powder.

Step 5

Add chicken to the onions, mix and saute for 2-3 minutes on high heat.

Step 6

Add tomatoes, mix and sauté for 2-3 minutes. Add ½ cup water and ground spices and mix well.

Step 7

Adjust salt and ¼ cup water, mix, cover, reduce heat and cook till chicken is almost done.

Step 8

Add kodumpulli water and mix. Cover and cook on low heat till chicken is fully cooked.

Step 9

Transfer into a serving bowl and serve hot.
