By Sanjeev Kapoor 26 Oct 2020 in Recipes Course New Update Main Ingredients Moong dal, Rice Cuisine Indian Course Rice Prep Time 31-40 minutes Cook time 21-25 minutes Serve 4 Taste Mild Level of Cooking Easy Others Veg Ingredients list for Dal Khichdi Cassarole ½ cup Moong dal dhuli, soaked 1 cup Rice soaked for 30 minutes ½ cup Mozzarella cheese grated 1 tablespoon Ghee 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds 5-7 Curry leaves 1-2 Green chillies halved and slit 1 tablespoon Garlic chopped ¼ teaspoon Asafoetida 1 medium Onion finely chopped 1 medium Tomatoes finely chopped to taste Salt ¼ teaspoon Turmeric powder 2 tablespoons Fresh coriander leaves chopped Method Preheat oven to 180° C. Heat ghee in a non-stick pan. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter. Add cumin seeds, curry leaves and green chilies and sauté for 10 seconds. Add garlic and sauté for 30 seconds. Add asafoetida and sauté. Add onion and sauté till translucent. Add tomato and mix. Add salt, mix and cook till tomato turns soft and pulpy. Add turmeric powder and mix. Add drained rice and drained dal and mix. Add 1 tablespoon coriander leaves and mix. Add 3 cups water, mix, cover and cook till rice is ¾done. Transfer the rice mixture into a glass baking dish, spread cheese and remaining coriander leaves on top. Put the casserole into the preheated oven and bake till the cheese melts.
